DEFA —Dora Espinoza Fine Art

Dora Espinoza founded Dora Espinoza Fine Art (DEFA), 1988 in New York City, where she focus on exposing the culture of Peru.  In the early 1990s, Espinoza traveled frequently between New York and Peru, to introduce Peruvian artist to the New York art seen with the help of the Peruvian Ambassador to the USA,  Eli Peláez.

She curated important shows at the Peruvian Consulate in New York and The Embassy in Washington, D.C.

In 1993, she founded Tribes Gallery on New York’s Lower East Side (LES), opening the door for other art institutions to establish the LES as a new destination for art. Ms. Espinoza curated exhibits at Tribes Gallery in connection with DEFA, exposing the works of Latin-American contemporary artists.

In 1995, she received special recognition from the New York State Council on the Arts for her contributions to cultural preservation and artistic development in the Lower East side of Manhattan.
